At-Home19 Hero WODs

Hero WODs You Can Do at Home

No box? No problem. These CrossFit Hero WODs can be completed at home with a pull-up bar, basic weights, or a small outdoor space. Each has a full at-home scaling variant that preserves the spirit of the original without requiring a fully-equipped gym.

Tips for Hero WODs at Home

Mile substitutions: Replace 400m track runs with 400m shuttle runs (10 × 40m or 4 × 100m loops around your home or block). The aerobic demand is comparable and timing is accurate.

Pull-up bar: A doorframe pull-up bar (€20–30) unlocks the majority of Hero WODs that are otherwise impossible without a rig. It is the single highest-ROI piece of home gym equipment for CrossFit.

Barbell substitutions: For WODs with barbell movements (DT, Tommy V, Badger), dumbbells or a single kettlebell can substitute at equivalent load. Increase reps by 20% to compensate for reduced mechanical advantage.

Score tracking: Record your scaling option alongside your time. "DT with 2 × 20 kg dumbbells — 18:42" is a meaningful benchmark you can compare against next quarter.
